This article gives examples of how real life interviewers handle hiring a more diverse staff. It states in the article that during the selection process the conversations that are happening are not about the candidates who were excellent or not excellent at all, they were about the ones in the middle. Those candidates in the middle are the women and minorities. There seems to be a much more difficult time when it comes to selecting an employee because hiring managers are focusing on diversity instead of ones skill-set.
This article also notes that it becomes difficult to actually progress with diversity because many people have different definitions of diversity. The younger workers will define diversity as employees being able to work together with different perspectives. The older workers explain diversity as people from different demographic areas working together.
This article is an excellent article for what my paper is going to be on. I believe this article will be excellent for what I am writing about because it gives real examples of people dealing with diversity in the hiring process. Diversity is a very important thing but there are many difficulties that come along with it.

Cannon states that there needs to be more of a plan put into place to properly handle diversity and more hiring managers are not doing that. With all that being said, the article states that we really cannot put all of the blame on HR and the companies. Our society today has built the foundation for all diversity problems and we are just going to have to rebuild it.
This article is an average article compared to the rest that I have found. I will use some information that I believe will strengthen my paper and reinforce what I am writing about. I am going to use the information about how we cannot put all of the blame on companies for diversity issues. Dias does an excellent job at capturing the benefits of diversity in the workplace and how important it is to bring different cultures together. Diversity has been proven to increase productivity and also bring much more perspectives into decision making. This book also gives many different ways that hiring managers can go about making difficult decisions in the selection process. Ethics plays a major role in the hiring process and Dias explains how to properly go about it.
This book will be one of most used source throughout my final paper. I put this source as one of the highest quality sources I have chosen because the facts that it provides will give the proof needed for my paper. I will mainly be using this source to back up my point that diversity is important in the business world.

This article gives some history of diversity that becomes very important when fully understand the aspect of diversity. Another benefit of this article is that it provides the results from surveys that were conducted on the topic. The main focus of this article is how not diverse the accounting industry is.
I believe this is an article that I will use for its history that it provides. Understanding the history is the first step of fully grasping the idea of diversity and if we want to make a change we must deepen our knowledge about it. This source is an excellent source that provides very important data on how there is a lack of diversity in the accounting industry.

This article is about the details of diversity and how to go about it correctly. It states that employees today would rather work in a diverse environment. It also states that companies will actually sacrifice their best talent for diversity. Diversity provides a more productive workplace so it is important to implement and give employees much more job satisfaction. It allows employees to actually want to come to work and when they want to come to work they get much more done. It also states that it is not just the lower level employees that need to be diverse. It needs to be consistent all the way up the latter for it to work successfully.
I believe the quality of this article is high and is going to be used frequently. I will be using the source for its facts on what the trends look like with diversity. Just like anything else, trends are crucial to analyze to try and predict what will come in the future.
Ludlum, R. S. (2016). Be Careful What You Might Suspect: Religion and Accommodation in the Workplace. Labor Law Journal, 67(2), 375-382.
This article gives difference cases where religion played a part in certain business decisions. The important facts that come from this is the result of how the employer handled the situation and how they should have handled it. Religion should not be a factor in whether or not someone is going to be hired. In those cases religion was brought into consideration and affected the thought process of the managers. The article also states ways to prevent this from happening in the future. Creating a policy, training, and engaging in a process are all ways that will help future situation similar to those.

The article states that studies show that having a more gender diverse workplace leads to a focus on innovation. The rest of the article is about how well gender diversity improves performance and bring higher levels of innovation into the workplace.
I believe this is one of the best articles that I have found because gender diversity is very important and is becoming very common today. Many companies will chose a women over a man with the same skills because they want a more diverse work environment. You just never would have seen that years ago and I find it very interesting.
